Terms & conditions
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Please read these terms before ordering. They set out your rights and ours when you buy a personalised portrait from Saddle & Story. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. Who we are
Saddle & Story is a trading name of [company name], company number [number], registered office [address]. Contact us at [hello@saddleandstory.com — to be confirmed] or via our contact form.
2. Ordering
When you place an order, you choose a portrait style and format, upload a photo of your horse or pony, and agree to our photo consent terms. Our contract with you begins when we email to confirm your order has been accepted and payment received.
We sell to customers with UK delivery addresses only.
3. Prices and payment
All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). VAT status: [prices include VAT / we are not VAT registered — to be confirmed]. Delivery charges for printed items are shown before you pay.
If we discover a pricing error before accepting your order, we will contact you and you may cancel without charge.
4. Personalised goods
Each portrait is made to your specification from your own photo. Because of this, the usual 14-day right to cancel generally does not apply once work has started — see our Refunds & returns policy. Your rights for faulty or damaged goods are not affected.
5. Artwork and likeness
Portraits are created using digital image tools and checked by a person for likeness — coat colour, markings, proportions and character — before printing.
If the portrait doesn’t capture your horse’s likeness, we will rework it. This does not cover changes of mind about style, setting or format after your order. Artistic interpretation of the background and festive elements is part of each style.
6. Photos we may refuse
We may decline or cancel an order (with a full refund) if a photo is too low in quality to create a faithful likeness, appears to be someone else’s work used without permission, or contains content we consider unsuitable or unlawful.
7. Intellectual property and licence
You confirm you own your photo or have permission to use it. You keep any rights you have in your photo.
We own the copyright in the finished artwork. We grant you a personal, non-commercial licence to display, print and share it for your own use — for example, at home, as a gift, or on your personal social media. Commercial use (such as reselling, or use in advertising) needs our written permission.
8. Delivery
See our Delivery page. We do not guarantee delivery by a specific date unless we have expressly confirmed it in writing.
9. Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We do not exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. We are not liable for business losses.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.
