About us

Inspired by horses and their people

Saddle & Story exists to celebrate one of the quietest, deepest bonds there is — the one between a horse and the person who loves them.

Why horses are family

More than a pastime

For anyone who has spent early mornings at the yard, a horse is never just a horse. They are the first pony who taught a child to be brave, the schoolmaster who forgave every mistake, the companion who knows your footsteps before you reach the stable door.

Christmas is a time for the people — and animals — who matter most. We think the horse in your life deserves a place on the wall.

Why likeness matters

Unmistakably them

A beautiful picture of a horse isn’t the same as a picture of your horse. The exact shape of a blaze, a single white sock, the way the forelock falls, a kind eye or a cheeky expression — these details are who they are.

That’s why we never substitute a generic horse. Markings, colouring, proportions and personality come first; the festive setting comes second.

Our approach

Careful creation, checked by a person

Each portrait is created from your own photo using digital image tools, then checked by a person against that photo before anything is printed. If something isn’t right — a missing marking, the wrong shade of chestnut — we rework it. If your photo isn’t clear enough to do your horse justice, we’ll tell you and ask for another.

Every horse

From Shetland to competition horse

Native ponies and warmbloods, cobs and thoroughbreds, veterans and youngsters, happy hackers and eventers — every horse is welcome, and every one is portrayed as themselves.
